If you have a pet site of any kind and you'd like to earn income from it, there are several things you can do. Here are some of the more popular ideas to try, in no particular order of preference.

 • 1) Set up a social networking (SN) site like free ones at MySpace, Squidoo and here at Hubpages. Complete your profile and add some good content that contains text links to your website like this:

How to Make Money from Your Dog Site

Both on the SN site and on your own website, monetize as much as possible by adding your Google Adsense code to your SN account, your website's search box and other areas. Also set up other SN modules available like Amazon and eBay with your own affiliate links, where you can. (See sites for more info).

 • 2) Check out affiliate programs like Clickbank and Commissions Junction (cj.com) to find good pet products to sell like dog training ebooks, and pet treat cookbooks. Add your affiliate links to your website and inside your text posts and other modules on your SN sites to attract clicks and ultimately sales.

 • 3) Set up a membership program. You can set up a simple protected file using a cheap Website Tonight account with Godaddy, and make a member area there. Then invite your website guests to subscribe to a "Treat Recipe of the Month Club," "Dog Sharing Photo Club" or other fun, educational pet club. Look around the web for plenty of ideas.

 • 4) Seek forums in your niches of interest. Add a link with short blurb to attract forum readers to your site (something like, "Free Dog Training Guide, click here: URL" and then reply to forum posts where you can share helpful info, without spamming there with your ads. Note: each forum has its own rules and regs, so check first before posting to see what type sig (signature) file you are permitted to have their.

 • 5) Team up in joint ventures (JVs) with other pet lovers to come up with new ideas: new products to sell, new pet services you could ad, new membership site ideas, etc. You can team up to sell pet gates, special treat, pet strollers and any number of other pet items with your pet accessories, for example.

 • 6) Check private label rights (PLR) sites to find PLR content that you could slap your name on and brand as your own to use and sell. Many PLR programs sell websites, video and audio files, ebooks, articles, autoresponder messages and more in the pet industry. So look around and save lots of time, money, elbow grease and hair-pulling by using someone else's stuff - -the right way! (Check the rights that come with the content before using).

 • 7) Set up educational learning series in autoresponders (like at Aweber.com or 1Shoppingcart.com). Then invite your website guests to sign up for free lessons that arrive in their email, of course with your short ads in them selling your pet products, services and affiliate items.

Search the web and especially the Small Business Administration website at SBA.gov for many more ideas on how to start and grow your own pet business.

I use amazon and ebay products on my reptile website. That can be an option as well.
