There are many different uses for dog gates outside the house. You can also use them as a travel gate in the back of a large SUV or even a motor home. Using a pet gate in a vehicle is a great idea as this will keep your dog safer while going for a ride or a long trip. They are used just like a K9 police car and keep your dog in the back so he will not be able to jump in your lap or under your feet while driving.

Also you can set the gate so your dog can look out one window so they are not running back and forth in the back seat distracting you. You will find that different styles of dog gates for vehicles are adjustable and easy to use. They are specially made for safety so your dog and will be secure in your vehicle. You can also use a dog gate in a motor home or recreational vehicle while you are driving or even when you are parked to keep your pet from running all over the place.

In addition you can find outdoor dog gates that work like inside gates however they are usually taller than inside gates. A taller gate will keep your dog from jumping over the top and getting out of the area you have designed for him to stay in. This will keep him from getting harmed by other animals or cars. Outside dog gates are made out of strong plastics and metal. You want to make sure if you use a dog gate to keep your dog outdoors that he has plenty of food and water at all times. When you first start using a dog gate you can make it easier on your dog by throwing in a toy and a blanket or pillow so he will feel right at home.

If you have a large dog run or dog pen and multiple dogs you can use a dog gate to keep them separated if needed. These are handy if you have an outside female dog that may be in heat and you do not want her to become pregnant or you want to breed her with your choice of dog. You want to make sure to use a very secure gate that cannot be pushed down or broken down by any male dogs when your female is in heat.

Dogs need time to play in order to build confidence and be generally happy. When your dog spends a large amount of time outside they can begin to resent their “play” area. At this point you may find your dog tossing his gate around or even tearing up the toys you have provided. It is important to spend quality with him to prevent this from happening. Going on walks and playing fetch are great ways to keep a healthy and happy animal.

Take the time to buy the right dog gate for you and your dog. If you grab the first one you see you may find yourself taking it back and looking for another. You can search on the Internet for the different types and styles of dog gates so you find one that will fit your needs.
