Why People Show Dogs

Numerous dog shows bring countless dog lovers together worldwide. In case you have ever wondered why people show dogs, here are a few reasons.

1) Serious Breeder - These types of people seek to improve the breeds of their beloved animals. This person, who we'll refer to as "he" although many are certainly female,

is excited about comparing his dogs with others, good competitors, to make sure his own breeding program is running well and of course to boast, showing off Fido. This breeder wants to know he is doing things right and seeks answers to these questions:

Does my dog look well in comparison? Handle itself well?

2) Other people who like to show dogs are recipients of dogs that turn out to be exceptional in nature. Someone, a good friend perhaps, has suggested that they show the dog in competition to see how it fairs. And hence these owners get into the arena, often moving up into the first group above if there dogs do indeed achieve good marks.

3) Another group of people who like to show dogs are those people seeking hobby fun. These people most likely enjoy traveling to the events, outdoor activities, etc. Heck, some get paid - like when they win at dog shows - or reimbursed as business expenses, if they package in work-related affairs to boot. So fun and action go together here hand-in-hand.

4) And last but still very much important are the people who are simply show-offs or exhibitionists. They want to be in the spotlight, sometimes any spotlight. This can be fine if they are true dog lovers. However, if not, the fad wears off after awhile and they seek new focused spotlights.

Commonalities Among Dog Show People

All in all, regardless of the type of people involved in dog shows, commonalities surface among them all. They need to have good dog food, not just anything off the shelf at the local dime store that's marked down. And they need good dog food storage containers to take along to trips to keep the food fresh.

Then of course there are the comfortable dog beds to bring along, the dog treat jars - leashes, pooper-scooper and other accessories. And don't forget the one most important ingredient for Fido: love!
